Growing up between the United States and Italy, Gina Casella developed a deep appreciation for the traditions, flavors, and stories that make each destination unique. Her career took her across the globe, where she built brands, discovered cultures, and gained a unique understanding of what transforms a trip into an unforgettable experience.
In 2008, a friendship and a shared love for Italy sparked the beginning of something extraordinary. When bestselling author Adriana Trigiani wanted to travel to Italy to research the art of shoemaking for her novels and reconnect with her grandfather Carlo’s craft, she turned to Gina to create the journey.
Gina designed an immersive Italian experience that went far beyond a traditional trip – exploring craftsmanship, culture, and the hidden stories behind the places they visited. On their flight home, Adriana asked Gina if she could create a similar experience for her readers, inspiring the beginning of a new way to experience Italy.
That vision eventually grew into AT Escapes, a boutique travel company dedicated to creating personalized journeys that allow travelers to discover the world through authentic connections, local expertise, and unforgettable moments.

With a background spanning brand development, merchandising, entrepreneurship, and hospitality, Gina has built a career around understanding people, cultures, and what makes an experience truly memorable. During her time living in Rome, her passion for food and culture led her to create her own catering company, where she shared authentic Italian cuisine and hospitality with distinguished clients, including the U.S. Embassy, diplomatic families residing in Rome, and Italian corporations.
Today, Gina combines her business expertise, creativity, and passion for food, culture, and human connection to craft personalized journeys that allow travelers to discover a destination through its cuisine, wine, traditions, and local experiences.
Best-selling author Adriana Trigiani is beloved by millions of readers around the world for her hilarious and heartwarming novels. Adriana was raised in a small coal-mining town in southwest Virginia in a big Italian family. She chose her hometown for the setting and title of her debut novel, the critically acclaimed bestseller Big Stone Gap.
