Versailles is a residential town outside of Paris, developed around the renowned Palace of Versaille. The palace, built by Louis the XIV, was the principal residence of the kings of France and the seat of French government for more than 100 years. Both the palace and the extravagant gardens of Versailles, are designated UNESCO World Heritage sites. A visit to Versailles is not to be missed.
